Our customers are not only our greatest supporters, they are our best critics and they are the focus of our service. When we started 20 years ago we had only a sandwich counter and 800 pounds worth of stock, but continued support from our customer base has allowed us to expand and realise many of our founding ambitions. We have had a lot of press coverage over the years, and won some awards, but the appreciation of our customers is most important to us.
Customer feedback has been crucial to our development and has encouraged us to branch into new markets and provide new services. We always encourage our regular customers to keep us up to date with their thoughts in-store . Feedback comments will always be taken down and be consulted on within the team.
Long term survival in the ethical grocery trade , no matter attempting to re-invest in our sector can prove difficult. The margins in the grocery trade are small and don’t really permit widescale advertising. So that’s where we rely on our customers to not only keep shopping with us, but also to keep spreading the word amongst their friends.
And in supporting us you are not helping create a community resource, in supporting us you are are helping support our producers many of whom themselves are workers cooperatives, local family businesses and small scale farmers, and all of whom are all attempting take up a more sustainable approach to food production. With us it is not simply about products, it’s is as much about the people who produce. And our food quality relies on establishing a depth of trust and enculturing an attitude of respect throughout the food chain.
We do attempt to keep our website up to date. But the happiness of our customers rather than simply what happens online or in the press, remains most important to us. And the most we can hope from recommendations and recognition is the opportunity to establish a group of regular customers who can appreciate the foods we carefully source, produce, and retail.
