The shop on Heaton road remains open as normal for customers to visit and purchase goods in-store as usual. We were open through the last lockdown and intend to remain open through the second. Distancing and hygiene measures are in place.  Our weekly schedule , and opening times have changed a little recently. We are now closed on Sundays and Mondays. But the shop is  open from 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday , and from 10.30am to 5pm on a Saturday.

We have launched an online shop to support our new delivery and collection service.  As well as a weekly order service, we also offer a range of online veg box  subscriptions.

  Our order deadline is strictly Monday at noon for delivery or  collection orders each week.  Orders submitted after noon on a Monday will be fulfilled the following week. We regret we currently having to limit our deliveries more to our local area as we face a second lockdown. We currently deliver to Heaton, High Heaton, Sandyford, Jesmond,  South Gosforth, Gosforth, Grange Park, Melton Park,  Longbenton , Byker, Walker & Walkergate on a Wednesday between 2pm and 8pm. Please see our delivery map at the bottom of this page. Click and collect orders are available to collect from midday Friday until 5pm on a Saturday. Please email us at if you have any concerns. 

  Not all of our in-store products are listed in our  online shop. Customers are welcome to request additional items from The Honey Tree by using the order notes section at checkout.  We invoice by email for any additional items.   Please see our terms and conditions at the bottom of this page. Our online order and delivery service is still developing and we appreciate our customers support. 

Christmas pre-orders now being taken. Please place Christmas pre-orders separately from any weekly order.

We expect to start deliveries on Wednesday in Christmas week and will hopefully be finished deliveries before the Thursday afternoon at the latest. Please let us know in your order notes at checkout if you need an evening delivery after 6pm in Christmas week. Collection should be available from late afternoon on the Wednesday of christmas week and further details will be posted online soon. Please order early for Christmas to avoid disappointment. We recommend ordering before December. We will be closed from the 25th of December until the 5th of January. Weekly Subscriptions will be paused in the week between xmas and new year.

Please keep your Christmas orders separate from your weekly order as we can only take advance orders for Christmas dinner veg boxes a we as yet don’t know availabilty or prices for other items in christmas week. We have added terms and conditions relating to christmas orders below. We update our online shop with our new lines each week by Saturday afternoon at the latest.  Please include any special instructions in your order notes. If you are not going to be in for a delivery please let us know where we can leave your box.

Our ready made boxes vary each week, follow the seasons and reflect what is proving popular with customers in-store at any time. Our boxes usually contain a portion of the items listed above as essentials, and take advantage of the full variety of loose fruit and veg which sell each week. Some of our customers like to top up their ready made box with more portions of fruit and veg and other items.

We have a different supply chain from the supermarkets and order our fresh produce direct from independent and specialist growers. Our focus is always on sourcing the best produce available at any time. All the farms we buy from are free to set their own market price. We follow the seasons to keep our produce as local and as well priced as we can. And as a specialist organic greengrocer, we only sell certified organic produce.

Our prices for loose organic fruit and veg in-store are often better than the supermarkets for like for like produce. And our ready made boxes offer even better value. Our ready made boxes offer good value for money even after any delivery charge is added. In the current circumstances customers must include a £20 ready made box in any order.

Customers concerned about unwanted items in their ready made boxes are welcome to take out a subscription and let us know their preferences in their order notes at checkout. We make up all our boxes around our delivery days to ensure they are as fresh as possible. Some customers report our box contents can last them up to two weeks after purchase.

Our fresh boxes offer a great way to help stay healthy and reduce packaging. They give our customers the opportunity eat and cook with the seasons each week while enjoying the best and most nutritious organic fresh produce available.

Terms and conditions

Our delivery is currently doorstep drop at easily accessible properties and kerbside at others. If we can easily access your doorstep , we’ll drop off your delivery and wait at a safe distance till you answer your door or your telephone. In the current circumstances if your property is inaccessible or has closed or shared access ( eg flats ) we’ll telephone you on arrival so you can meet us kerbside and receive your delivery at a safe distance. If you have a safe place we can leave your order if you are not in, please inform us when placing your order. If we haven’t been given a nominated safe place, we may still leave your box in what we consider to be a safe location at your address if if we consider it is in your best interests.

If we can’t complete a delivery at a given address, we will notify customers by text, and their box will be returned to the shop. Boxes will be available to collect from the shop until 5pm on the Saturday. We regret we can’t reschedule delivery or refund delivery charges in such circumstances.

We deliver inside set timeslots. At present our main delivery areas are Heaton, High Heaton, Longbenton, Benton, Sandyford, Jesmond , West Jesmond, South Gosforth, Gosforth, Grange Park, Melton Park, Wallsend, Walkergate, Walker & Byker. We usually deliver on a Wednesday between 2pm and 8pm. Orders from outside these areas, or which do not include a ready made box may be offered for collection or refunded/cancelled in any week. Sometimes deliveries may be moved to another day ( usually Thursday) but customers on those occasions customers will be informed by the Tuesday at the latest by text and we can move delivery back to a Wednesday if needed if we get a reply the same day. Delivery and collection times during the week of Christmas may be different.

Deposits for poultry are non-refundable and we cannot guarantee the exact size of Christmas poultry as the birds grow to different sizes each year but will obviously do our best to accomodate preferences. Pre-orders for poultry and christmas dinner veg boxes should be made separatly from any normal weekly orders. We can only accept pre-orders for items in the christmas order section. Any refunds for other items included with Christmas pre-orders will not include any online transaction fees charged. At this stage we expect Christmas deliveries will be made on the Wednesday in Christmas week between 2pm and 9pm . If delivery has to be moved to the Thursday before 4pm you will be informed by text by Tuesday at the latest and we can move your delivery back to the Wednesday if you reply the same day. If you require an evening delivery after 6pm on the Wednesday in Christmas week please let us know in your order notes.

Our delivery areas fall within postcodes NE2,NE3, NE6,NE7, & NE12. We cover all of NE6 & NE7. most of NE2 and NE3 ( except Spittal Tongues, Kenton, Fawdon & Kingston park) , as well as Longbenton in NE12 8.

All boxes requiring collection must be collected by 5pm on a Saturday. We’ll extend our collection deadline till 5pm Tuesday if you can email us before 5pm on a Saturday. We can’t supply or refund boxes that are not collected in time, or if we have not been notified in time by email that a later collection date is needed. We also can’t refund for boxes ordered once they have been made up in-store. We will happily cancel and refund orders if necessary or with due notice. Refunded orders will be to the original cost minus any online transaction costs incurred by us as part of the original purchase.

We will make substitutions in good faith if we believe it is in the best interests of a customer, particularly where customers have requested items rather than simply purchasing them online. Please tell us if you don’t want any substitutions to be made, or please email to give us feedback if you are unhappy with any substitutions made so we can provide you with a better service going forward. We cannot facilitate returns or exchanges for goods supplied at a distance/ We can only deliver once to an address for a the delivery charge even if small errors in an order have been made. However we can take returns for individual items if customers return them to the shop but we cannot offer to swap items in ready made boxes when customers collect them at the shop.

If we can’t supply any item that you have purchased, we will refund you for any items which are missing as neccesary by the following Saturday at the latest. Refunds do not include transaction any fees charged during the refund. The online shop is updated for the week ahead by a Saturday at 5pm.

Our deadline for both collection and delivery orders is strictly noon on a monday and we regret exceptions cannot be made in the current circumstances. Orders recieved after monday will scheduled for the following week.

Our request form contains a special instructions section and our online form provides an order notes section at checkout. Customers can use these to supply additional information or any concerns they might have with their order.
